Peter Pan Visit

Peter Pan is visiting the BD Library on April 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Boardman High School is doing the musical and is sending Peter Pan in costume to sign autographs and play games at storytime.
I plan on using the following fingerplay and games:

Peter Pan, Peter Pan turn around,
Peter Pan, Peter Pan touch the ground.
Peter Pan, Peter Pan show your shoe,
Peter Pan, Peter Pan that will do.

Peter Pan, Peter Pan fly around,
Peter Pan, Peter Pan touch the ground.
Peter Pan, Peter Pan fly upstairs,
Peter Pan, Peter Pan comb your hair.

Peter Pan, Peter Pan turn out the light,
Peter Pan, Peter Pan say, "Goodnight!"

Games:
Walk the plank - Place a tape line on the floor. Child will balance a Peter Pan hat on their head. (Simple newspaper hat made with construction paper with a feather added. Pattern is in the book Curious George Rides a Bike.)

Hide and Seek Crocodile. - Tape a timer to the crocodile puppet. Have three boxes with packing peanuts. Child will try and guess which box has the ticking crocodile.

Thing 23 - Follow-Up

I am proud to finish the Library 2.0. It was a difficult, time-consuming challenge. It had me dancing when it worked and ready to "scream" when I couldn't get past the challenge. The best part was the enthusiasm of the staff as we tried to complete each task. I found out that YouTube was a whole new world and that I enjoy writing posts to my blog. I do see applications that we can use for library programs. As a result of this exercise, I was able to use my digital camera and e-mail a picture of our top readers to the BD Town Crier. The photo was published and BD's Top Readers were honored. I look forward to the next challenge that is presented to the staff.

Thing 22 - e-books and audio e-books

I signed up for an account on Net Library. I read a few pages from the Golf Course Mystery by Chester Steele. I found out that you turn the page at the top of the screen not at the bottom of the screen where it jumped to the next chapter. I am looking forward to downloading an audio book on the MP player. I wish to listen to Sue Grafton's S is for Silence. My account is in the name of Karenisknitting and my password is the six initials that I use for my knitting password account.

Thing 21 - Podcast

I tried podcast.net to find a podcast. I like the variety of stories found on the WGBH Morning Stories. I listened to the Mother Duck podcst. I think it would be fun to have a library podcast of picture books.

Thing 20 - You Tube Machine Knitting Video

I was able to find a video on making ribbing on a knitting machine without using a ribber. You Tube is an unbelievable site! It would be wonderful to be able to make a You Tube video of the the summer reading performers and add them to the library website.

Thing 19 - Discovering Web 2.0 Tools - Getting Organized with Backpack

I tried the Backpack website that allows you to get organized and make lists. I made a list of my knitting projects. Backpack allows you to make calendars and list events. This would be ideal for making a branch list of activities. My link is http://karenisknitting.backpackit.com/welcome. This will get me to the home page of backpack.

Thing 17 - Wiki

I added my blog to the Favorite Blogs page. I did not add brackets to the URL as suggested. It accepted the link without the brackets. I was able to add a post to the Wiki under "Favorite Leisure Activities". I tried some of the editing tips to make lists. I could use Word shortcuts but I couldn't get the Wiki editing tips to work.
